San Somewhere Area help:

Mike, I am going to try and network with you for some help here. The airstrip is dry and ready to receive planes. I thought since you were both a Fireman, Pilot and Aircraft owner, you could help reach out to your world...or to the Baja Bush Pilots. I know they have their hands full helping folks in other areas who were hit worse than us. But here it goes:

The outlaying Ranchos all have wells. The problem is...that since the hurricane, they are full of "gunk" and need to be drained fast so they can refilled with clean water

It could create some problems soon for the Ranchers' families and livestock.

We are trying to see if there is some way we can get a good, Gasoline water pump with hoses that can pull about 20 feet of water up and out. It will need to be small enough to be put on the back of a quad to get back to many of the ranches. The roads have been cleared more or less, but the folks way back in there are still cut off. No one here has a small pump to do the job.

The hope is this weekend if possible. The runway is dry, scrapped and in really good condition. I'm hoping that I can show good enough conditions to motivate someone to come down.

The touchdown zone is right after the numbers...very hard and compact. Run-up on the way out can take place here as well right on the concrete pad

The windsock is still functioning...

...a lot different than last week when you came down to Cadeje and put it back up!

Here's what it looked like seven days ago from the photo Kim took

What a difference a week makes! The strip is in really good shape.

Tie-down area. Sorry for the blurry photo, but it is very smooth and dry as well.

This photo was taken about a 150'  from the Tie-down area looking toward Cadeje Water still comes almost up to the upper side of the tires on my car as you cross. The people are down there washing their clothes

As far as Plane security; the Military is out in full force and they have their checkpoint manned 24 hours a day that basically overlooks the airstrip. They have taken over the school in town and are using it as Barracks at the moment. Either way, there are military on both side of the strip/river

Doesn't it look inviting??? I hope someone you know is ready for a Baja Adventure this weekend. It's only five hours away from San Diego ! I can pick them up...just have them fly over our place in San Somewhere and I'll come get them.

Boozie is in Constitucion today getting supplies from donations that have been made so far from to her PayPal account. She is planning to go back out to the ranches tomorrow with a bunch of people from here in both vehicles and with Quads to get the supplies to the back country. I haven't checked with her yet, but she may be able to put the pilots up here, or they can stay with me on Saturday night for sure. I have to leave Sunday morning, but can take them back to the strip early or we can find them a ride if they want to hang out for the day after I leave.

Water is great, not much surf. The Beer truck still hasn't made it in, But I promise to have an iced-cold Pacifico that I have in reserve here that will be ready once they land...if they get here tomorrow. Can't promise beyond that!

We sure could use that pump!

Thanks Mike for all you help. I have also copied John Grube as well.

I hope this email finds the right people to make it happen!
